Rainforest Lumina: Heed the Call of the Wild at Singapore Zoo

Published

on

As night falls over Singapore Zoo, a symphony of light and sound transforms the landscape into an enchanted world full of whimsical wonder.

Dubbed Rainforest Lumina, this multimedia extravaganza consists of four main zones spread across an expansive one-kilometre trail is a treat for guests of all ages. Kids in particular will love the Creature Crew, think of them as the zoo’s version of Brady Bunch, who will be joining you on the night walk and are eager to show you the wonders of the night.

This unique multimedia experience was created in collaboration with Moment Factory and is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.

Mr Mike Barclay, group chief executive of zoo owner Mandai Park Holdings, said the attraction hopes to lead visitors on a multimedia-enhanced journey designed to celebrate the wonders of the natural world. More than anything, he hopes Rainforest Lumina shares the message that we have to come together to protect and preserve the wildlife we share our planet with.

The layout. Just follow the path, or the crowds, and you’ll be fine. Next to this is a shimmering arch where you can get your first Insta-worthy shot of the night.

Treetops

Shortly after passing through the shimmering arch and entering wonderland, we were greeted by an illuminated waterfall. Blue, orange, pink, red… we were caught in a trance for longer than we’d like to admit.

Garden of Virtues

A formal introduction to the Creature Crew. Choose the animal you most identify with and take that animal’s corresponding virtue bracelet. Are you playful like an otter or courageous like a tiger? You decide.

Luminous Pathway

You would not believe your eyes, if ten million fireflies… (except the fireflies aren’t really fireflies and are actually just green lasers.)

Sing Like an Animal

Scream your lungs out and call forth the Creature Crew!

Call of the Wild

This visual narrative tells the tale of how the Creature Crew bands together in times of adversity to keep their beloved jungle safe.

Shimmering Islands

We’re reminded vaguely of the luminous flowers in the movie Annihilation.

Play Like an Animal

Jump for joy and join in the fun with the Creature Crew. The more you jump, the more fun you’ll have!

End your adventure with Fire, an illuminated passageway of trees, and the Wall of Fame, where you can immortalize your selfie forever.

With a ton of nicely illuminated spots, Rainforest Lumina is the perfect place for some new pictures to light up your Insta game. Bring your selfie stick, a portable fan, plenty of lighting and come down early to avoid a long wait as ticketing queues can get pretty crazy past 7pm. Tickets can also be pre-purchased online at Klook.

Rainforest Lumina runs July to December, 2018, from 7.30pm to 12am (last entry at 10.30pm). Tickets are $22 for adults and $16 for children up to the age of 12 years old.
