Future of Work Forum 2018

Digitalisation, automation and innovation are changing the fundamental nature of work. Understanding these shifts can help business leaders and HR professionals plan ahead. It will be critical for organisations to have an enterprise “future of work” roadmap combining different functions across HR, IT, business strategy and finance, with an actionable view of talent, training and development, communication, leadership, culture, and organisational impacts.

The Dialogue with Mr Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communication and Information & Ministry of Health, will touch on Cultivating a Healthy and Productive Workforce. With a growing workforce, it is inevitable that healthcare plays an important part in the workplace ecosystem. To build a healthier and progressive workforce, we have to focus on encouraging individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles. This would require the collective efforts of all stakeholders to work closely together to overcome these challenges.

In a first of its kind report done in collaboration with HR Tech startup EngageRocket, the Near Future of Work Report dives into disruptive forces within the Singapore workforce which we will experience within the next few years. EngageRocket co-founder and CEO would share the insights from interviews of business and HR leaders in Singapore on what they saw would impact them the most in the near future.

The fireside chat themed ‘Re-imagine the Future Workplace’ will dive into how business and HR leaders play a critical role in pivoting their organisations amidst a rapidly changing business and technological landscape. The rise of digital workplaces and mobile workforces, paired with the growing diversity of views and expectations across employees are also at the heart of the shift. Today’s business and HR leaders must rethink and reimagine the future of work to drive organisational capabilities and transform workplaces while creating an innovative, collaborative and engaging employee experience.

7. Personal Stories for a Sea of Change #11

This is a workshop where we free our creative spirits. It is a journey of looking within ourselves, and connecting with others.
Personal stories, drama games, art-making activities, movement practices, and dramatic improvisation, come together in an eclectic mix.
Begin gently by looking within ourselves, perhaps by dancing, perhaps by drawing, perhaps by writing, perhaps through playing games together.
Connect with one another, find hearts and souls willing to listen and willing to create a collective wisdom for understanding and change.
Loook within ourselves to find what we want to share, and hear our stories in one another’s journeys.
Share our own stories and connect with one another in a Theatre of Neighbours.
Whoever comes, are the right people.
Wherever we go, is up to us all.

No experience in any artistic pursuit is necessary. All you need is an open heart and an adventurous spirit.

The 11th session of a regular Pay-As-You-Wish series, this event is part of A Good Space by National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC).
A Good Space offers a refreshingly community-curated calendar of events and programmes in public spaces across Singapore for the giving community to come together to reconnect, refuel, and be inspired. For the community, by the community – a City of Good.
The Personal Stories sessions will use applied drama methods, art-making, and other creative arts practices for self-development and community building.
The session is facilitated by Michael Cheng, an applied drama practitioner, and Karen Koh, an artist/arts therapist.

11. Strawberry Space 3.0 ft Louie Vega

They are honoured to announce the 3 Year Anniversary of FAT FISH and they will be celebrating it with their flag event STRAWBERRY SPACE which is also in its 3rd edition!

Their special guest, and official walking legend, OG, and inspiration to many, who they are so excited to have the honour of hosting in Singapore, all the way from the western parts of the world, Mr. Louie Vega, himself!

A godfather of global dance music, Louie Vega has painted an award-winning career from a palette mixed with everything from salsa and afro-beat, to jazz, hip-hop and soul. What distinguishes the Grammy winner and 5-time nominee as one of the best living house music deejays is his ability to evolve alongside the times, distill the current musical landscape through his unique taste and put his own timeless spin on it. “Little” Louie Vega, as he is sometimes affectionately known, was born in the Bronx into a musically gifted family (his father, a jazz saxophonist, and his uncle, Salsa King Héctor Lavoe). The “Little” moniker is ironic, given the fact that by the 80s he was deejaying at clubs he wasn’t even old enough to attend, holding residencies at Studio 54, Devil’s Nest, Hearthrob, Roseland, and the Palladium. Soon Vega was producing his own remixes, which included Information Society’s “Running”, Noel’s “Silent Morning” and Debbie Gibson’s “Only in my Dreams”. Then in 1991 he joined Atlantic Records—and hit the mainstream. Teaming with an-up and-coming Marc Anthony, he helped to produce “Ride on the Rhythm”. An immediate hit, the single put Vega and Anthony on the map. The duo would rock the club circuit, with their success culminating when they opened for Tito Puente at his 100 Album concert at Madison Square Garden.

One of the keys to Vega’s success is his knack for refusing to being boxed into any one category, not only reflected in the various music styles his songs play with, but by his fruitful collaborations with other artists. And so more success came in 1991 from the production team he created with Brooklyn-based deejay Kenny “Dope” Gonzalez. Masters at Work, as they were called, were responsible for the critically acclaimed albums “Nuyorican Soul” and “Masters At Work – Our Time is Coming”. Not to mention the duo found the time to remix and or produce for Michael Jackson, Luther Vandross, Madonna, Jamiroquai, Tito Puente, India, Janet Jackson, Tania Maria, George Benson, Black Eyed Peas, Jocelyn Brown, Los Amigos Invisibles, Bebe Winans, and Earth Wind & Fire.

They will also be hosting a very special 2nd guest, one of their favourite Tel Aviv Dj’s, selectors, Producers- Amichay Matyas (sound familiar, The Block)!

Amichay is pushing boundaries in Tel-Aviv’s underground for the past 20 years. Being an active force as a DJ and selector, he still keeps himself busy by digging the crates for new sounds to raise the bar he set at a young age and. Within these 20 years, he also gained mythical reputation within the Israeli club culture with his residency at The Block. He regularly warms-up for DJs such as Theo Parrish, Maurice Fulton, DJ Harvey and others at the renowned club in Tel-Aviv. But in a desolated and exclusive venue anywhere in the world that will project the right atmosphere of total musical freedom and hi-fidelity sound, Amichay’s record selection will hit you at the right spot at the right moment.

With both feet in the club culture, it seemed only right to think about the next musical move: a record label. Championed by their residencies at The Block, Amichay Matyas and Yogo founded Bauhaus Records in 2017, based on music put forward by musicians from their own city. The records come in all shapes and sizes; House, Acid and other obscurities made in Tel-Aviv. Amichay is currently dedicating his al to his passion, leaving other trajectories aside and following just one; music. This love for music is his driving force and his addiction to collecting vinyl records stems from that core. As a lifelong music fanatic, record collector and co-owner of a label which pays tribute to the white city of Tel-Aviv, Amichay is well established, manifesting cosmic old school flavors with unheard uniqueness.

12. Kickstarter programme for couples

Having been in the wedding trade for 25 years, Chris Ling Photography and Z Wedding Design would be the best duo to approach when it comes to understanding wedding couples and their requirements. We noticed that most couples shop with no prior knowledge of what goes into a wedding planning, leaving them as easy preys for companies that can talk their way through a package of things one may not actually want or need. In the end, expectations were not fulfilled, leaving only nasty memories of their wedding journey.

To prepare yourself, why not join our Kickstarter Program to help you better understand wedding packages and provide a guiding light on how to shop for one with our wealth of knowledge?

For those who are clueless on where to begin, this program is for you as…
~ From past surveys, a couple spends an average of 1.5 hours at a single bridal shop to understand a package.
~ This time-consuming process leaves couples exhausted, resulting in high tendency to make wrong decisions out of impulse.
~ It is nearly impossible for one couple to understand all bridal houses in Singapore.
~ You might miss out on the package that really suits you.

You should, therefore, attend this seminal if you want to…
~ Understand what both of you, bride and groom, actually need in a wedding package.
~ Learn how to fully understand packages at any bridal shop in just maximum 15 minutes and cover at least 3 bridal house within hours.
~ Reduce the risk of signing a wrong package by cutting away the stress caused by hard-sell tactics.
~What is the correct way to look for a dream wedding gown.
~ Find out how to read a photographer’s portfolio.
~ Learn what to look out for in pre-wedding photos.
~ Discover how to maximise your dollar to fullest value.

Come and join the one and only bridal ‘Kickstarter Program’ in Singapore and find out how this program can help you to become a Chris Ling Photography and Z Wedding’s couple that many can only dream of before!
